Limited Time or Budget? You Can Still Visit Antarctica

For those who don’t have the time or the budget for a complete Antarctic experience we have created the ultimate Antarctica Express itinerary.

If you’ve ever researched a trip to the 7th Continent, you know that getting there is no easy feat.

To begin with, it takes time to get to Antarctica. For most Antarctic trips, at least two weeks are needed. Also, trips to remote destinations like Antarctica carry a higher price tag. This is due to the remoteness of the destination and the costly logistics involved in the operation, such as the expense of maintaining an ice strengthened vessel, the operating cost of an aircraft, the fuel costs etc.

For those who don’t have the time or the budget for a complete Antarctic experience we have created the ultimate Antarctica Express itinerary.

What’s different?
Our Antarctica Express Air-Cruise is an introductory trip. It offers you the opportunity to check Antarctica off your bucket list while making a small financial and time investment. We’ve maximized the itinerary so you can enjoy a visit to seldom-visited Cape Horn and a quick visit to Antarctica without having to count vacation days or break the bank.

How much time?
It only take six days. For those who can only take one week of vacation at a time, this is the perfect expedition. The trip combines a southbound sailing across the Drake Passage, a short visit to Antarctica, and a northbound flight over the Drake Passage. The trip lets you see penguins and icebergs, lets you ride in Zodiacs to amazing landing sites, and lets you take in educational presentations from our onboard experts.

How much money?
Depending on when you make your reservation, it can be as low as $2,995 per person. Early bookers receive a special price reduction so make sure to sign up for our mailing list or follow us on Facebook so you can stay informed about our promotions.

Where will I go?
You’ll board our ship in Ushuaia, Argentina, and sail along the Beagle Channel towards Puerto Williams, on Chile’s Navarino Island, a beautiful and undiscovered corner of Patagonia. This is followed by a visit to Cape Horn – one of the least visited places on earth. If weather allows, you will go ashore and visit the island. Brag-worthy indeed!

Next, you will sail cross the infamous Drake Passage where you will have an excellent chance of seeing various species of sea birds, including the majestic albatross. You will also have a pretty good chance of encountering heavy seas and getting sea sick during the crossing. But hey, you’re an adventurer, right?

You will be welcomed to Antarctica by imposing icebergs, then board your Zodiac for your first memorable shore visit to a penguin colony in the South Shetland Islands. Taking advantage of the endless Antarctic daylight, exploration will continue well into evening.

From there, it’s on to King George Island to explore the research bases before boarding your flight to Punta Arenas, Chile, on the historic Strait of Magellan.

What will I see and do?
You will enjoy zodiac rides around icy waters, surrounded by icebergs and possibly spot playful whales, seals and penguin swimming alongside you. You will also go ashore to visit penguin colonies, seals, and watch beautiful Antarctic birds flying overhead. Here you can see a slideshow depicting the experience.

If time allows, the trip can easily be combined with a visit to Patagonia for a fuller travel experience in southern latitudes. For example, from Punta Arenas you can visit the nearby Torres del Paine National Park
